Take bus 142 towards S Ostbahnhof (departure from Europaplatz/Central Station) to the stop "Hannoversche Str." which is just a short walk from ARCOTEL Velvet Berlin.

Alternatively, take the S-Bahn S5, S7, or S75 to the "Friedrichstraße" station. Change to U-Bahn Line U6 (towards Alt-Tegel) and get off at "Oranienburger Tor."

From Berlin's Airport to the Hotel

Taxi: approx. 40 minutes Public transport: Take the regional train RE7 (towards Dessau, Central Station) to "Friedrichstraße." Change to U-Bahn Line U6 (towards Alt-Tegel) and get off at "Oranienburger Tor."

Berliner Fernsehturm

The Berliner Fernsehturm at Alexanderplatz is the tallest structure in Germany at 368 meters and one of Berlin's most famous tourist attractions. Built between 1965 and 1969, it originally served as a transmission mast for the DDR. Today, visitors can enjoy a 360-degree view from 203 meters high and dine in the revolving restaurant above. The observation sphere rotates once per hour, offering an impressive panoramic view of the city.

Alexanderplatz

Alexanderplatz, named after Tsar Alexander I, is a historic site in the Berlin Mitte district and the scene of significant events such as the street battles during the March Revolution of 1848 and the peaceful demonstrations against the DDR regime in autumn 1989. After its destruction in World War II, the square was redesigned in the 1950s. Today, Alexanderplatz is a vibrant meeting point with numerous shopping opportunities, restaurants, and entertainment options. Notable landmarks include the Berliner Fernsehturm, the World Clock, and the Fountain of Friendship among Peoples.

Brandenburger Tor

The Brandenburger Tor, one of Berlin's most famous landmarks, was built in 1791 in the style of classical antiquity as the culmination of the Unter den Linden boulevard. During the Cold War, it symbolized the division of the city, as it could not be crossed from either East or West Berlin. After the fall of the Berlin Wall, it became a symbol of German reunification. Today, the Brandenburger Tor is a popular tourist destination and a venue for major events such as New Year's Eve celebrations, public viewings, and the Berlin Marathon.

Checkpoint Charlie

Checkpoint Charlie was a famous border crossing between East and West Berlin during the Cold War, specifically for foreign visitors, diplomats, and Western military personnel. It became a symbol of Germany's division and the tensions between East and West, especially during the 1961 standoff when Soviet and American tanks faced each other directly, narrowly avoiding a third world war. Today, Checkpoint Charlie is a popular tourist site where visitors can experience Cold War history. Nearby is the Wall Museum, which documents the escape attempts from the DDR.

Reichstagsgebäude

The Reichstagsgebäude in Berlin, built in 1894 under the direction of architect Paul Wallot, is the seat of the German Bundestag and a famous landmark of the city. After severe damage during World War II, it was extensively renovated and has been used again as the parliament since German reunification in 1990. The building is particularly known for its glass dome, designed by architect Sir Norman Foster in 1999, offering a wide view of the city. The Reichstag is a symbol of German history and politics and a popular tourist attraction.
